Die Frage ist nicht „Was kann man alles wissen“, sondern „Was muss man alles wissen“ – New York Times Kolumnist David Pogue hat deshalb die „Missing Manual“-Reihe bei O’Reilly ins Leben gerufen: humorvoll, locker und am Nutzen orientiert beschreiben hier Fachautoren mal entspannt, um was es überhaupt geht. CSS: Missing Manual: Das fehlende Handbuch zu Ihrer Website von David Sawyer MacFarland ist dafür ein gutes Beispiel – Know How am Beispiel aus der Praxis, für die Praxis und immer schön am Beispiel entlang.
Der erste Hauptteil gehört den CSS-Grundlagen, HTML und CSS, Stildefinitionen und Stylesheets, Selektoren-Grundlagen, Vererbung und Kaskadierung. Immer mit Übungen an den Kapitelenden und Beispielen aus der Praxis. Als Nächstes dann CSS konkret für die Praxis: Textformatierung, Rahmen, Innen- und Außenabstände, Grafiken, Navigation bis hin zu Tabellen und Formularen. Zuletzt das Seitenlayout mit Float und HTML-Positionierung und im letzten Hauptteil dann CSS-Optimierung für den Druck und eine Lehrstunde zu „sauberem“ CSS-Code. Und natürlich die Anhänge: Referenz, weiterführende Quellen und der Index.
Spaßmach und trotzdem kein „Dummie“-Buch – CSS: Missing Manual: Das fehlende Handbuch zu Ihrer Website ist zuerst mal ein O’Reilly-Buch, dann eine David Pogue-Idee und eine gelungene Umsetzung von MacFarland. CSS ist cool, macht Spaß und ist gar nicht so schwer. –textico.de/Wolfgang Treß
